FloydFest named one of 10 Best Fests by Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine
“Festivals like FloydFest are the saviors of the music scene as we know it. There’s a lot of very good music that never sees the light of day on the radio. Festivals like this have done great things for our band over the years, and I hope we’ve returned the favor with our playing. Whenever you go to this festival you end up liking 12 new bands that you had never heard of before."
—Jeb Puryear, singer and guitarist for grassroots rock favorites Donna the Buffalo.
Blount Harvey is an eclectic blend of old school hip-hop, southern soul music, and funk. Erykah Badu, James Brown, and A Tribe Called Quest are branches from the same root and Blount Harvey is searching for the place where they reconnect. Their sound is influenced by early 90’s hip-hop with the heavy influence of soul samples and a positive lyricism expressing complicated subject matter...This is not crunk music.
The group is fronted by two vocalists: emcee Rudolph Lyrics and singer Kid Vixen. The are backed by a band consisting of drums, DJ, guitar, keyboards, and horn. Blount Harvey often performs with 10 members: adding more horns and a percussionist.

Under the Radar Artist
Shortwave Society
Shortwave Society fuses elements from orchestral and electronic soundscapes to create a unique accompaniment to their off-kilter pop songs. Violin, cello, and a sea of vocals weave intricate tapestries while guitar and pianos pulse, and electronic bleeps and blips fill every nook and cranny of your subconscious. These ladies and gents host a post-modern sojourn through jazz, pop, and chamber music traditions; equally at home in the dance club or the concert hall alike..
