BMS 2010 Workshop Schedule
Please plan for children under 5 to attend workshops with an adult.
Thursday
4pm to 4:45pm -
Animal Smarts
How much can you learn about an animal from it's skull? Andrea Goodrum, Environmental Education Coordinator for Apple Ridge Farm in Copperhill, will answer this question and more in a hands-on workshop studying 20+ different animals skulls and bones.
All ages
6pm to 7pm - Poet-Tree
Poet and member of the Blue Mountain School community, Mara Robbins will lead this workshop which will generate poetry for decorating the Poet-Tree, a beautiful tree that greets incoming festival-goers. The decorations and poems will be hung on the tree, creating a display of creativity and inspiration for passers-by all weekend.

7:15pm to 8pm
- Trash to Treasure: making homemade instruments
Turn everyday objects into great musical instruments, to use during the parade or anytime. Corey Avellar, teacher at Blue Mountain School, will amaze you with her creative use of things like water bottles, bottle caps, and shoe boxes.

3:30pm to 4:30pm

Learn to play a marimba with Kari Thomas-Kovick, local musician, music teacher for Blue Mountain School, and owner of the Early Childhood Music Program of Floyd. Use this unique, oversized percussion instrument and your whole body to make amazing music and inspire your soul!

- Dancing with Hula Hoops
Learn to dance with a hula hoop with Ilima Ursomarso, performer and dance teacher and owner of the Rhythm Fire Dance Company in Floyd. Ilima, also a member of the Blue Mountain School Community, recently studied hula hoop dance while in Hawaii for several months this winter. She is excited to share this new skill with children and adults alike. All ages
